Eshelman Construction Named 2024 Urban Land Institute Excellence in Development Award Nominee for Second Consecutive Year
Eshelman Construction has been honored again as a nominee for the Urban Land Institute's (ULI) Excellence in Development (EID) Awards, marking its second consecutive nomination. This recognition underlines the firm's dedication to excellence in urban development and its positive impact on Nashville and the broader Middle Tennessee region.
The ULI EID Awards are renowned for celebrating exceptional developments that set new standards in design, financial viability, and community impact. Unlike other awards focusing solely on design or financial success, the ULI EID Awards evaluate projects on their comprehensive excellence and transformative influence on the community. This year's awards emphasized developments demonstrating high standards of excellence, unique value-added elements, and a positive community impact across various dimensions, including sustainability, affordability, and public partnerships.
Eshelman Construction's latest project, n o t e Nashville, stands among 21 distinguished nominees in the 2024 competition. This boutique hotel project is a testament to adaptive reuse and historic preservation, transforming a 1901 building that once housed the Koto Japanese sushi restaurant into a modern, code-compliant boutique hotel while preserving its historic essence. The project is a collaborative effort with Daniels & Chandler and Historic Restorations. It focuses on maintaining the building's original architectural elements like brick, windows, trim, and limestone facade and enhancing it with modern features, including rooftop decks for the penthouse suites.
The nomination reflects Eshelman Construction's commitment to innovative, community-centric development projects. n o t e Nashville serves as a model of how historic preservation can meet modern needs, creating spaces that mirror the community's character and forward-thinking in design and utility.
This recognition follows Eshelman Construction's success in 2023, where the firm was awarded for its work on The Wash project. The consistent acknowledgment by the ULI accentuates Eshelman Construction's role as a leader in development that not only achieves financial and aesthetic goals but also contributes significantly to the fabric of the Nashville community.
Eshelman Construction's dedication to excellence in urban development, particularly through projects like n o t e Nashville, The Wash, Emerson Hall, and Mother's Ruin, highlights the firm's innovative approach to building and redevelopment.
Eshelman Construction congratulates its fellow 2024 ULI EID Award nominees and eagerly awaits the results in May 2024.
